The Gambia is hosting the 25th Session of the African Forestry and Wildlife Commission, bringing together over 200 delegates from 47 countries for high-level discussions in Banjul. Convened by the Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources in partnership with the FAO, the gathering focuses on the continent’s most urgent environmental challenges.
Over the next four days, experts, policymakers, and conservation leaders will assess the state of Africa’s forests and wildlife, exploring long-term strategies to safeguard ecosystems threatened by climate change, deforestation, and habitat loss.
Held under the theme “Innovative and Inclusive Forest and Wildlife Resources Management for Africa,” the session seeks to promote solutions that integrate technology, community engagement, and sustainable governance.
Organisers say the forum will shape future policies aimed at strengthening conservation efforts while supporting livelihoods across the continent.
