The civil society movement Gambians Against Looted Assets (GALA) has accused the Gambian government of sidestepping accountability after officials allegedly ignored the group’s petition on corruption and the misuse of public resources.
At a press briefing on Tuesday, GALA criticized both the National Sports Council and the National Assembly, claiming the institutions have deliberately failed to address concerns raised in the petition. The group insists that its demands are grounded in transparency and justice, supported by verified evidence and official records.
GALA argues that such silence undermines public trust and weakens the country’s governance structures. The movement says it will continue to advocate for accountability and urges authorities to engage constructively with its findings.
As calls for oversight grow louder, GALA maintains that addressing corruption is key to protecting national resources and strengthening public confidence in state institutions.
