The newly established Centre for Good Governance (CGG) in Gambia has called for electoral reforms, proposing that the voting age be lowered to 16 for local government and 17 for parliamentary elections.
At a press briefing in the capital, CGG presented findings from a national policy study on youth participation in Gambian democracy.
The proposal specifically excludes presidential elections and is aimed at encouraging greater youth involvement in the democratic process.
CGG says empowering younger voters will help strengthen civic engagement and make democracy more inclusive in Gambia.
