A Magistrate Court in Banjul has sentenced two men to five years in prison for engaging in a homosexual act.

According to prosecutors, the men entered an unfinished building near a cemetery in Old Yundum on April 18, 2025, where they allegedly committed an act described as gross indecency.

During the proceedings, the defence appealed for leniency in sentencing.

However, the court ruled that the prison term was necessary to uphold societal norms and deter similar conduct.
