The Gambia and Guinea-Bissau have signed a new security cooperation agreement aimed at tackling cross-border threats.

The agreement was reached during Gambian President Adama Barrow’s two-day visit to Bissau, where he met with President Umaro Sissoko Embaló.

Both leaders emphasized the need to combat rising insecurity, particularly drug trafficking, which continues to challenge stability in the region.

Analysts note that long-term success will also depend on Senegal’s active participation in the initiative, ensuring a united regional front against emerging security risks.
