Former  Mauritania President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz intends to run in the upcoming presidential election in June.

Despite being sentenced to 5 years in prison for abuse of power, a political party is being formed to support his candidacy.

A debate has now arisen regarding his eligibility. Many are asking if the candidacy of former Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz will be valid even though the judiciary has convicted him.
