Tragedy deepens in Mokwa, Nigeria, as the death toll from recent floods has climbed to 153, according to updated figures from the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA).
The floods, which ravaged the region late last week, have submerged over 503 households and displaced more than 3,000 residents. During a visit by federal officials, Deputy Governor Yusuf Garba confirmed the numbers and emphasized the urgent need for humanitarian assistance.
Communities continue to grapple with the scale of the disaster, as relief efforts are mobilized to provide food, shelter, and medical support to affected families.
