Burkina Faso is witnessing a surge in internal displacement as violent extremism continues to destabilize parts of the country. Humanitarian agencies report a sharp increase in the number of people fleeing their homes since the beginning of 2025.
Between January and June alone, terrorist attacks have forced hundreds of thousands to seek safety elsewhere, deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis. Many displaced families are now living in overcrowded shelters with limited access to food, water, and healthcare.
Aid organizations warn that the ongoing violence is stretching resources thin and disrupting education, livelihoods, and community life across the nation.
With insecurity persisting, humanitarian groups are urging increased international support and coordinated efforts to protect civilians and restore stability in affected regions.
