In 2025, the Second Committee of the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on Culture and Sustainable Development, affirming culture’s contribution to the three dimensions of sustainable development.

This resolution acknowledged the natural and cultural diversity of the world and recognized that cultures and civilizations are crucial enablers of sustainable development.

In the context of Africa, specifically West Africa, the region’s culture is characterized by rich oral traditions, diverse artistic expressions, and a strong sense of community.

Today, together with our guests, we will explore ways in which young people can embrace this unique cultural diversity to foster dialogue and development in West Africa.
