The European Union has committed €74 million in new humanitarian aid to Chad to support the growing refugee crisis at its eastern border.
The announcement was made by EU Commissioner Hadja Lahbib during her visit to Adré, where hundreds of refugees arrive daily fleeing regional conflict.
With donor support declining, Lahbib said the EU will bolster UN efforts on the ground, addressing urgent needs in food, shelter, and healthcare.
Chad’s government says it remains committed to its open-door policy, though it is struggling to manage over 300,000 displaced persons at the border.
