The protection of tropical forests cannot be seen as an optional or secondary investment, given the global economy’s enormous dependence on the environmental services they provide, according to the UN.
Forests or forest covers regulate the climate, rainfall, and preserve biodiversity.
Additionally, forest conservation is a response to two planetary crises of our century: climate change and biodiversity loss.
These are threats that require financial commitments commensurate with their scale, which is why, during the just-ended Climate Summit, COP30 in Brazil last month, the UN launched a 5.5 billion dollarTropical Forest Forever Facility (TFFF) to provide resourcesto the populations on the front lines of environmental preservation at a necessary scale.
