This week, our focus is on Food Security in West Africa and the Challenge of Managing Arable Land.
Food insecurity aggravated by flooding is increasingly hampering sustaible agriculture particularly in Senegal, Mali and Niger.
The Food and Agriculture According, FAO’s latest statement reveals that more than 700,000 people are affected by food insecurity in the Sahel region and other countries in West Africa.
These people live in areas submerged by massive flooding in recent weeks.
Dozens of deaths have been recorded after heavy rains in recent days as Environmentalists and biologists are raising their voices to draw attention to the urgency of strengthening food security in these countries.
