Her Excellency Damtien L. Tchintchibidja, Vice President of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), attended the International Congress on Conflict Mediation and Peace Building on July 16-17, 2024. Organized by the Women for Africa Foundation and the United Nations Alliance for Civilizations, the event emphasized women’s crucial role in peacebuilding.
In her keynote address, Vice President Tchintchibidja highlighted the significant impact of women-led mediation, noting that such processes often result in more sustainable peace agreements. Her call for gender-inclusive approaches set a proactive tone for the congress.
The event featured discussions on women’s mediation roles, national experiences, and best practices, with distinguished attendees including Congolese ministers and Prof. Fatou Sow Sarr, ECOWAS Commissioner for Human Development and Social Affairs.
