ECOWAS to convene ‘special summit’ to stiffle Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger exit

In Nigeria, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has resolved to convene a “special summit” in a bid to prevail on the three Sahelian States of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger not to leave the bloc.

Dr Omar Touray, the ECOWAS President, announced this during the 52nd Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Mediation and Security Council (MSC).

Usman Umar in Abuja attended the meeting and now reports.
