ECOWAS is set to Establish Economic and Social Council Commission (ECOSOC) of West Africa before the end of the year.
This is a body approved by the ECOWAS Treaty of 1993 to provide a platform for harnessing the views and inputs of civil society groups into ECOWAS decision making processes.
Serigne Mamadou Ka, Ag. Head, Electoral Assistance Division, Directorate of Political Affairs, ECOWAS Commission, disclosed this at a recently held Public Debate tagged; “Security in the Sahel: Effects, Challenges, Strategies and the Way Forward” organized by West Africa Democracy Radio (WADR) with support from Open Society Foundation in Abuja Nigeria’s capital.
