ECOWAS is ramping up efforts to tackle insecurity in West Africa by activating its Standby Force to combat terrorism and other threats.

At a high-level defense meeting in Abuja, leaders reaffirmed their commitment to regional stability and security.

Despite ongoing tensions, ECOWAS insists that it remains open to welcoming back the AES member states that exited the bloc.
