In Mali, Diarra Transport has resumed operations after a month-long suspension triggered by threats from the jihadist group Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM). The company had halted services following security warnings but was allowed to resume after issuing a public apology to the group.

According to local sources, JNIM has now imposed strict new travel conditions on the transport company, though details of the regulations remain unclear. The restrictions are believed to include limitations on travel routes and passenger screenings in certain regions.

The development underscores the growing influence of armed groups over economic and civilian activities in Mali’s central and northern regions. Despite the resumption, security concerns remain high, with many travelers expressing fear over the fragile peace along major transport corridors.

Authorities have yet to comment on the company’s decision to resume operations under the new conditions.
