A heated debate has erupted in Nigeria as the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) begins reviewing salaries and allowances for political, public, and judicial officeholders.

The Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) has strongly opposed the move, calling it “insensitive” at a time when citizens are grappling with soaring living costs.

Labor leaders argue that increasing salaries for top officials while ordinary workers struggle undermines public trust and widens economic inequality.

The RMAFC, however, insists that the review process is part of its constitutional mandate and aims to ensure fair compensation for public service roles.
