At least two people have been killed and several others injured following a deadly communal clash in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory. The violence, which erupted in Gwagwalada, has also displaced dozens of families, leaving homes torched and communities on edge.

The incident is the latest in a long-running conflict between herders and farmers — a dispute over land use and grazing rights that continues to fuel unrest across Nigeria.

Security forces have since been deployed to restore calm, but residents fear more attacks unless the root causes are addressed.

The Gwagwalada clash is yet another stark reminder of the urgency for long-term solutions to Nigeria’s deep-seated communal tensions.
