Civil society organizations in Nigeria are calling for transparency in the appointment of officials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
At a stakeholder engagement, they emphasized the need for a fair and open selection process, especially as INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu’s tenure ends in December 2025.
Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre Executive Director Clement Nwankwo urged officials due for retirement to resign early to allow a smooth transition.
The call comes amid growing concerns about electoral integrity and governance in Nigeria.
