Côte d’Ivoire tops Africa’s social institutions and gender equality index

According to the 2023 Social Institutions and Gender Index (SIGI) report, Côte d’Ivoire leads Africa with a score of 17.3. The report, presented by the Development Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), names Côte d’Ivoire as the top performer in combating discrimination against girls and women.

The SIGI highlights national efforts to address discrimination within families, violations of physical integrity, restricted access to productive and financial resources, and infringements on freedoms.
