In Côte d’Ivoire, at least 16 people have been arrested in Bocanda following protests over prolonged power and water outages.
The demonstrations, led by students and supported by local youth, turned violent after security forces blocked a planned march, with tear gas reportedly used to disperse protesters.
The suspects have since been referred to the prosecutor’s office in Dimbokro.
The unrest highlights ongoing challenges with electricity and water supply in areas such as Abobo and Anyama, while political reactions have also emerged, including criticism of President Alassane Ouattara over the situation.
