Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara is set to visit the Independent Electoral Commission headquarters today, August 26, to officially submit his candidacy for the October 2025 presidential election.
He will be joined by supporters and activists from the ruling party, the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace (RHDP), during the morning visit.
This announcement comes just a day after former president and longtime political rival Laurent Gbagbo submitted his candidacy through close associates.
Ouattara’s decision sets the stage for what could be a highly competitive presidential race in Cote D’Ivoire.
