In Côte d’Ivoire, opposition executive Damana Pickass remains in detention just a day before the planned mass mobilization set for November 8. Pickass, who serves as vice president of the PPA-CI—the party of former president Laurent Gbagbo—was arrested by state security on Tuesday.

Authorities accuse him of inciting insecurity after he called for a major demonstration demanding the release of political prisoners. His continued detention has heightened tensions within the opposition, which insists that the rally will proceed despite the arrest.

As the mobilization date approaches, concerns are growing over potential clashes, even as rights groups urge the government to respect freedom of expression and peaceful assembly.
