In Côte d’Ivoire, independent opposition candidate Ahoua Don Mélo has accused the authorities of manipulating the justice system ahead of the October 2025 presidential election.
His criticism comes after the constitutional council invalidated several opposition candidacies. Although his own application was approved, Don Mélo expressed solidarity with the disqualified contenders.
The former PPA-CI member used social media to call on excluded candidates to unite and mobilize against President Alassane Ouattara’s bid for re-election.
Analysts warn that these developments could deepen political tensions as the country edges closer to the polls.
