In Côte d’Ivoire, political parties and independent candidates are making final appeals to voters as the official campaign for the legislative elections draws to a close this Friday, December 26.
The polls, scheduled for December 27, will see more than 2,500 candidates competing for 255 seats in the National Assembly. Many contenders say they want to redefine the country’s political culture and improve governance.
Notably, the race includes a significant number of independent candidates, many of whom lead political movements or civic associations, reflecting growing interest in alternatives to traditional party politics as Ivorians head to the polls.
