The Ivorian government has extended its special program for birth certificate regularization by three years, offering citizens without proper documentation an opportunity to formalize their civil status.
The initiative, announced on December 14, 2024, by government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly, aims to address challenges stemming from past crises that destroyed records and a lack of awareness about registration processes. Introduced under Law No. 2018-863, the program is free, accessible, and includes an amnesty for those using forged certificates, allowing them to correct their records without prosecution.
This extension ensures broader access to education, healthcare, and public services while promoting inclusivity and reducing inequalities. It reflects the government’s commitment to social cohesion and Côte d’Ivoire’s broader development objectives.
