ECOWAS and the African Union have congratulated Côte d’Ivoire for the peaceful conduct of the October 25 presidential election, which returned President Alassane Ouattara to office for a fourth term.

In a statement from Abuja, ECOWAS commended Ivorians for their maturity and urged all stakeholders to respect the rule of law in addressing any disputes.

AU Commission Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf also praised the electoral process and called for continued dialogue and national unity.

Both bodies reaffirmed their support for Côte d’Ivoire’s democratic governance and regional development efforts.
