A court in Côte d’Ivoire has scheduled the trial of a detained member of Mali’s Transitional Assembly, Mamadou Hawa Gassama.
Gassama has been in detention in Côte d’Ivoire since 2024, following remarks made against Ivorian President Alassane Ouattara.
He is accused of insulting the Ivorian head of state after publicly describing him as an enemy of Mali.
The case has drawn attention amid broader diplomatic sensitivities between Mali and Côte d’Ivoire.
