In Ghana, the Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has strongly condemned incidents of violence, vote buying, and police inaction during last Friday’s parliamentary rerun in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
In a statement issued over the weekend, CODEO highlighted acts of voter intimidation, harassment of poll officials and journalists, and targeted threats against two female political candidates.
The group is calling for urgent investigations and the prosecution of all individuals involved in undermining the electoral process.
CODEO also criticized the Ghana Police Service for its inadequate response, warning that unchecked political violence could erode public trust and threaten the country’s democratic stability.
