In Togo, the civic movement “Let’s Turn the Page of Togo” (TLP-Togo) has raised alarm over what it describes as a wave of politically motivated arrests targeting civil society members.
In a statement on Monday, the group accused state authorities of orchestrating a plan to silence activists close to Professor David Dosseh, TLP-Togo’s national coordinator.
The statement cited the harassment of a TLP-Togo member forced into hiding and the August 22 arrests of activists Armand Agblézé and Oséï Agbagno in Lomé, with no charges disclosed by authorities.
TLP-Togo has called on the international community to press for the activists’ release and protection for all human rights defenders in Togo.
