A government delegation has visited Ouaddaï province in eastern Chad, where more than twenty farmers were killed in a recent attack. The deadly incident, which occurred last week, had drawn public outrage and demands for accountability, especially after what many saw as initial government silence.

The visit took place on June 18 and included key officials such as the Minister of Communication, the Minister of Public Security, and the Minister of Justice. The team traveled to the affected area to express condolences and reassure grieving families.

Families of the victims had earlier criticized authorities for failing to respond promptly to the massacre. Their outcry placed pressure on the government to act and acknowledge the gravity of the tragedy.

Speaking during the visit, Communication Minister and government spokesperson Gassim Chérif Mahamat pledged that the state would not ignore the incident and promised steps to address the situation. He also emphasized the government’s commitment to justice and public security.
