The Central Sahel States have reached a conditional agreement on future collaboration to combat terrorism, according to the ECOWAS Commission.
Speaking at the inaugural ECOWAS-Sahel Governance Forum in Banjul, Gambia, ECOWAS President Dr. Omar Touray confirmed the breakthrough in regional security talks.
The agreement sets the stage for joint strategies to tackle rising extremist threats destabilizing parts of West Africa. However, specific terms for implementation are still under discussion.
The forum has drawn leaders from across the region, placing renewed emphasis on unity, governance, and collective defense against terrorism.
