The President of the Confederation of African Football, Patrice Motsepe, has defended the organisation’s integrity and impartiality following a controversial decision on the Africa Cup of Nations title.
In a video statement issued late Wednesday, Motsepe addressed the ruling by CAF’s Appeals Committee that stripped Senegal of its AFCON title.
The decision came after a protest by Morocco, with the committee finding Senegal in violation of Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament’s regulations.
Motsepe said CAF will respect any higher ruling on the matter as the controversy continues to generate strong reactions.
