Burkina Faso’s anti-corruption body, KORAG, has uncovered widespread embezzlement and misconduct within the public administration after nine months of investigations. Nearly 100 cases were identified between December 2024 and August 2025.
The probe revealed corruption, abuse of power, forgery, and theft of public property involving public officials. Authorities say the findings highlight systemic malpractice across multiple sectors.
Captain Farouk Azaria Sorgho, speaking on national television, disclosed that about 20 of the cases involve magistrates, customs officers, health workers, and land agents. He emphasized that the crackdown is ongoing.
Both administrative and judicial sanctions are expected. Sorgho urged citizens to report irregularities, warning that such practices undermine the credibility of the state.
