Burkina Faso has officially re-established the Institute of Black Peoples, nearly 40 years after it was disbanded.
Originally founded by the revolutionary leader Captain Thomas Sankara in 1984, the institute aims to promote African culture, unity, and values.
The announcement was made during a Council of Ministers meeting on May 14, with government spokesperson Gilbert Ouédraogo highlighting its symbolic and cultural significance.
This revival is seen as part of Burkina Faso’s broader efforts to reconnect with its revolutionary heritage.
