Burkina Faso’s government has kicked off its 2025/2026 agricultural campaign with a massive distribution of farming and fishing equipment worth over 104 billion FCFA (approx. $179 million USD).
The package includes tractors, motor pumps, cultivators, fertilizers, and processing units, as well as livestock support tools and transport for field agents. Officials say the aim is to boost productivity and modernize agriculture nationwide.
Speaking at the launch in Bobo-Dioulasso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré stressed the government’s commitment to transforming agriculture into a driver of economic resilience.
However, farmers like Youssouf Ouattara worry about access, especially in areas under threat from frequent terrorist attacks.
