Burkina Faso’s transitional government has granted amnesty to 21 soldiers involved in the failed 2015 coup.

A decree signed by Captain Ibrahim Traoré follows an amnesty bill passed in December 2024. While the pardon lifts legal sanctions, the soldiers will not be reinstated or compensated.

The move has sparked mixed reactions as the country navigates its political transition.
