Burkina Faso’s government has moved to formalise a traditional mechanism for resolving disputes, known in the Mooré language as Faso Bu Kaooré.
A new bill adopted by the Council of Ministers establishes local conflict resolution bodies in both rural and urban centres. Officials say the initiative is designed to complement the national justice system and ease pressure on formal courts.
By giving traditional practices a legal framework, the government hopes to strengthen community cohesion and promote quicker, more culturally grounded conflict resolution across the country.
