In Burkina Faso, authorities have announced an end to festive celebrations marking International Women’s Rights Day.
The decision means no more gatherings in open-air restaurants, bars or nightclubs traditionally associated with March 8 activities.
Instead, the government says it will focus on initiatives designed to strengthen women’s economic empowerment across the country.
