In Burkina Faso, the transitional government has officially dissolved the country’s Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI).

The announcement was made following a Council of Ministers meeting held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

Going forward, the responsibility of organizing elections will be transferred to the Ministry of Territorial Administration. According to the authorities, the move is intended to streamline electoral processes, cut down public spending, and ensure free and independent elections.
