The Beninese Government, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, summoned the Ambassador of Burkina Faso to Benin on Tuesday.

The ambassador David Kabre who resides in Accra, was received by the Beninese Foreign Affairs Minister Olushegun Adjadi BakarI.

The call was in response to allegations made by the Burkinabe Transitional President Ibrahim Traore that Benin is hosting French military bases aimed at destabilizing Burkina Faso.

Cotonou strongly objects to the statements made by the Burkinabe transitional President.

During a meeting between the two, the discussion mainly centred on allegations made by the Burkinabe transitional leader, Captain Ibrahim Traoré.

While very little was reported on this diplomatic meeting, France and Cote d’Ivoire have all denied these accusations, with Paris stating that it only has bases in Chad, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Gabon, and Djibouti.
