In Benin, Fortunet Alain Nouatin, the Minister of National Defense, presented the 2025 budget for his ministry before the Parliament’s Budget Committee on Monday.
The proposed budget is 118 billion CFA francs, reflecting an 18% increase compared to the 99 billion CFA francs allocated in the 2024 financial year.
The minister justified the increase, highlighting the need to strengthen the army’s capabilities by acquiring new military equipment and enhancing the training of forces deployed in sensitive regions. The funding aims to improve national security and ensure readiness in the face of emerging threats.
