In Benin, the 10th legislature of the National Assembly has been officially inaugurated, with 109 deputies sworn in during a ceremony at the Governor’s Palace in Porto-Novo.
All members of the new legislature are drawn from the two parties aligned with the presidential movement.
Former Justice Minister Joseph Djogbénou was elected Speaker of the National Assembly and will preside over the legislature for the next seven years.
