In Benin, military cooperation is being stepped up across West Africa in response to the growing terrorist threat.
Top military officials from Benin, Côte d’Ivoire, and France met at the Togbin military base in Abomey-Calavi for high-level strategic talks focused on counterterrorism.
The meeting brought together Benin’s Chief of Staff, Fructueux Gbaguidi, alongside his counterparts Lassina Doumbia and Fabien Mandon, with discussions centred on intelligence sharing, operational capacity, specialised training, and tackling disinformation.
The leaders also emphasised operational confidentiality, while France is expected to provide technical support and training, signaling a stronger, coordinated regional response to cross-border terrorism.
