The electoral campaign for legislative and municipal elections in Benin comes to a close today, Friday, ahead of voting on Sunday, January 11.
The ruling party aims to maintain its majority in both parliament and municipal councils to continue implementing government policies.
For the opposition, the key challenge will be to push for a power-sharing arrangement in parliament, particularly as the main opposition party, the Democrats, will not participate in the April presidential election.
The outcome of these elections will set the tone for Benin’s political landscape in the months ahead.
