Reactions continue to trail the composition of Benin’s new parliament following the confirmation of the final results of the legislative and municipal elections.
The Constitutional Court has validated the results earlier announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, CENA, bringing the electoral process to a close.
The legislative polls were overwhelmingly won by parties aligned with the ruling majority, effectively locking out opposition groups from the National Assembly.
As a result, Benin is set to have a parliament without opposition representation for the next seven years, a development that has sparked mixed reactions among residents in the economic capital, Cotonou.
