Bamako and Niamey have signalled a strong resolve to partner in the energy sector.
This partnership was solidified on Tuesday when the Malian interim president Colonel Assimi Goita welcomed a delegation from Niger led by the Minister of Petroleum, Mines and Energy Mahaman Moustapha BARKE.
Finalisation of the agreement will have Mali, a country experiencing a serious power crisis purchase 150 million litres of diesel.
As Sankulleh Janko reports, the partnership publicized on Mali’s state media, maybe the miracle needed by the population after enduring frequent power outages, especially during the heatwaves set to persist until June 2024.
