Amnesty International has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reconsider recent presidential pardons granted to individuals convicted of serious crimes in Nigeria.
The human rights watchdog warned that the decision could weaken justice systems and promote impunity, both in Nigeria and across the region.
According to Amnesty, the exercise appeared to favor perpetrators over victims, undermining efforts to secure accountability and redress for affected families.
The organization urged the government to prioritize justice, transparency, and victims’ rights in any future pardon decisions.
