Amnesty International has condemned the life sentence handed to Abdul Karim Ali, a well-known Anglophone peace advocate in Cameroon.
The sentence, delivered by a military court, has sparked outrage, with Amnesty calling it a serious miscarriage of justice and a clear violation of international human rights norms.
The organization is now demanding Ali’s immediate and unconditional release, saying his only “crime” was advocating for peace in a conflict-ridden region.
Rights groups warn that this ruling sets a dangerous precedent for civic freedoms and dissent in Cameroon.
